Pumpkin Patch!
We are still in North Carolina with Cousin and her son. We are so excited to go to this gynormous pumpkin patch! The road getting there is beautiful, the kids are getting along (we have a 9,7 and 4 year old), the weather is awesome!
We get in and than it happens....
You know what I am talking about...
The most embarrassing thing for a Mom...
Your child cops the tude!!!
Something about walking through those gates made Kaitlyn flip her teenage switch and go on full attitude!
While I understand that maybe the maze was a little bit kiddy, its hard to do a pony ride when you are taller than the pony and she was well aware the train was not taking her to 'magic pumpkin land' I was not prepared for her to be so unagreeable.
Honestly, I didn't care she wasn't happy. I didn't care that she would rather be washing her hair.
You see I didn't care cause she wasn't the only kiddo there and frankly I didn't care cause she was embarrassing the heck outta me!!! I tried everything I could to make her smile but it wasn't happening.
I told her she could act like she couldn't get out of the maze, playing along for her 4 year old cousins sake.
I told her she could still get on the pony but if she broke it she bought it! (the girl is over 5 feet tall, the ponies maybe 4 feet and the oldest kid on them was 6).
I begged her to just be the bigger person in the situation.. nothing.
Now on a side note....It was sad that she was too big for it all. It did break my heart that a nine year old was too tall for pony rides and too keen for a maze. That the bouncy house was full of really little kids and her being in there with them could truly be dangerous. I feel bad that because of her height things are becoming unavailable for her.... BUT
She was totally embarrassing me! Sulking and moping around! Oh why? Why? Why do they always act this way in public?
We finally get to the area where we can get our pumpkins and low and behold what do I see...
A SMILE!
something has finally made her happy, there is something she can do...
She can pick a pumpkin!
Oh thank you God! I didn't know how much more teenager I could have taken.
It was at this point I got the camera ready, threw the three of them together and got the picture!
Good thing too cause as soon as we took the hayride back... I got my teenager back.
Ill take what I can get and luckily I can prove that at one time in her nine year old life... she did smile!
Three little pumpkins!
